LinkedIn has become the Facebook for professional networking and career contacts. Its well-organized functionality and career content make it the most important Web-based career development tool for all fields.  A 2010 Drake Beam Morin study showed that 64% of successful job hunters used networking to gain employment.  75% of your energy should go into networking, and LinkedIn is a great place to start.

  1. Build a career profile you feel proud of. Get it critiqued at the Career Development Center.
  2. Invite current and former colleagues, family, and faculty to connect with you.
  3. Join the LinkedIn groups available to you, UWM Student Alumni and Employer Group and Panther Career Connections.
