Harambee - Five Point Intersection, 2007
Riverworks Development Corporation approached CDS to assist in creating a vision for the Harambee neighborhood. CDS agreed to complete two project phases. First we thoroughly researched the area, gathering information into a concise Power Point presentation. In the spring of 2007 Liam Lowry and David Vanden Avond, presented the research to Riverworks. The presentation included a series of diagrams that helped Riverworks and CDS get a better understanding of positive and negative aspects of the neighborhood.
With the knowledge CDS had gathered, we went on to make a well informed master plan. The master plan was focused on areas identified in the analysis as most valuable for improvement. CDS prepared several visionary perspectives which showed our planning concepts realized. Historic buildings were reused, the pedestrian way was enhanced, creative lighting and paving techniques were employed, community gardens and green space were developed. The final presentation was given in early June of 2007.
