Center for Cryptography, Computer and Network Security

Center Profile

The widespread use of computers and computer networks has heightened the need for security. The explosive growth of the Internet and World Wide Web, including commercial transactions and funds transfer has exposed the need for urgent attention to security issues in communications, data storage and management. It has also served to demonstrate the fact that designing secure communication protocols is a complex issue, requiring considerable expertise and research.

The center's purpose is the advancement of knowledge in the areas of cryptography, computer security, network security and related areas from a theoretical as well as a practical viewpoint.

Located at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Center for Cryptography, Computer and Network Security was created to focus work on cryptography and data security started at UWM by Professor George Davida.
