The Mechanical Engineering department offers many electives that allow students to either pursue a general mechanical engineering education or tailor a program of study towards a concentration in either thermal sciences or mechanical systems.

Technical Electives

Students can select technical electives courses based on their particular area(s) of interests.  The elective offerings are in two broad areas of thermal sciences and mechanical sciences. Students can choose from courses that cover topics such as:

Math and Science

Students will take the following courses:

  • Calculus I, II, and III

General Education Requirements

All UWM students are responsible for completing General Education Requirements in arts, humanities, and social sciences, as well as competency requirements in English and a foreign language.
