The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Center for Economic Development (UWMCED) is a central part of UWM's mission to apply university-based research and technical expertise to improve the quality of life in our region.
Drawing upon the talents and expertise of faculty, students, and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the UWMCED is committed to:
The Center also serves as the research and technical assistance arm of UWM's Consortium for Economic Opportunity, a Milwaukee Idea initiative.
The UWMCED was established in 1990 by a grant from the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Center is a part of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Letters and Science.
The Center For Economic Development provides a wide range of services to assist in economic development. These include:
If the Center is not able to offer assistance, or if there is a more appropriate provider, referrals will be given.
The Center For Economic Development works with clients to establish an appropriate and affordable fee. Fees for Center services are on a sliding-scale, based on ability to pay and the kinds of services requested.
