The Aquatic Animals Facility

Services/Techniques

The following techniques and services are offered by the Aquatic Animal Facility:

  • Long and short-term care of freshwater species including special diets
  • Veterinary care
  • Animal breeding consultation (zebrafish, fathead minnows, cichlids)
  • Tissue perfusion; fill, heart
  • Tissue sampling, including blood sampling
  • Egg microinjection (chemicals, morpholinos)
  • Contaminant/toxicant exposure; metals, organics, various routes of exposure (i.p., gavage, waterborne, and dietary)
  • Experimental design advice and equipment construction
  • Graduate student instruction in the use and care of aquatic species/assistance
