Water and Children's Health
The Center has a major emphasis on water and children’s health. This stems from our history—a number of investigators joined the Center as they were hired as staff for the UWM’s Great Lakes WATER Institute.
This relationship has offered a unique opportunity to link research interests in freshwater ecotoxicology to concerns for the human health implications of contamination of water supplies including the Great Lakes. In the current Center’s partnership between UWM and the Children’s Research Institute, collaborating scientists are now extending these basic studies into clinical and community health research related to children’s health.
