Graduate Student Assistantships

Teaching Assistantships

At present, the program annually supports eight half-time teaching assistants. In addition, a limited number of research assistantships and/or project assistantships become available on a year-to-year basis as faculty procure research grants and contracts.

Teaching Assistantships:

Appointments begin in mid/late-August and are for one academic year (9 months), renewable, and dependent on funding. TA appointments are half-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and carry a waiver of tuition plus a stipend of approximately $11,000 per academic year. Students are responsible for paying fees and are required to enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester to maintain eligibility.

What Teaching Assistantships are available?

Research or Project Assistantships:

Research assistantships (RA) or project assistantships (PA) may be available pending individual faculty funding cycles. Only students admitted to the MS Kinesiology or PhD in Health Sciences graduate programs will be considered for a RA or PA appointment.

RA appointments are for one academic year (9 months) or one calendar year (12 months), renewable, and dependent on funding. RAs are required to enroll in a minimum of 8 graduate credits to maintain eligibility. RA appointments of 33% or more carry a waiver of tuition plus a stipend. The amount of the stipend is dependent on the appointment. Students are responsible for paying fees.

PA appointments are for one academic year (9 months) or one calendar year (12 months), renewable, and dependent on funding. PAs are required to enroll in a minimum of 6 graduate credits to maintain eligibility. PA appointments of 33% or more carry a waiver of tuition plus a stipend. The amount of the stipend is dependent on the appointment. Students are responsible for paying fees.
