Randall  Lambrecht, Ph.D., MT(ASCP)

Dean

Interests and Expertise
Dr. Lambrecht's research interests are in diagnostic bacteriology and epidemiologic mechanisms of infectious disease. Current research efforts are designed at developing and evaluating molecular methods which differentiate between closely related strains of pathogenic mycbacteria (specifically Mycobacterium avium which is the most common bacterial pathogen associated with human AIDS and causes a significant amount of disease in animals). Using novel epidemiological tools to "fingerprint" bacterial strains will help in developing better control strategies for understanding and preventing the spread of infection. Dr. Lambrecht is also involved with efforts to improve and enhance community and population health, through collaborations of academic institutions with state and local public health agencies and community health groups
