Interests & Expertise
I am the Laboratory Manager of the Clinical Laboratories used for the Biomedical Sciences Program here at UWM. My expertise comes from my laboratory experience at the hospital level, having worked at the countries largest hospital based clinical laboratory for over five years. Responsibilities include everything from maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies to assisting with the teaching of the labs and setting up testing for students. My goal is to set the example for our students, running the teaching labs as if they were fully functioning clinical laboratories reporting out actual patient results.
Along with my duties as Lab Manager, I am also a clinical instructor and teach the introductory course to the Biomedical Sciences program. Topics covered in this course include Medical Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Cytology, Immunology, Clinical Hematology, Urinalysis, Hemostasis, and Immunohematology/Transfusion Medicine. I have a passion for laboratory medicine, and I find no more joy than instilling that passion into students to help them find a career path that they can enjoy as much as I do.
