Jeffrey Sommers is an associate professor of political economy & public policy in Africology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He undertook his training in political economy with the late Andre Gunder Frank. He is also visiting faculty and curator of the Andre Gunder Frank Memorial Library at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. He has lived in the Baltic States for five years on two Fulbrights and other awards. He has provided economic and policy counsel to governments at all levels, up to the prime minister level. He is a frequent media contributor to global outlets such as The FinancialTimes, The Guardian, RT, Al-Ahram, The Moscow Times, and others.
