Consul General Barukh Binah
Head of Mission, Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest

A member of Israel's Foreign Service since 1979, Binah has held various positions in diplomacy, research, policy planning, and media relations. In 1985, he was appointed Israel's spokesman and press officer in New York. In 1992, he was assigned to Washington, DC, as counselor for congressional affairs at the Embassy of Israel. He later became the Embassys minister-counselor for public affairs.

In Jerusalem, Binah serves as the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and director of the press division (1991-92). Between 1999 and 2001, he served as director of North American affairs. He also held a variety of research and policy planning positions, including comptroller of research quality. From 2001-05, he has served as the head of the international affairs bureau in the Center for Political Research of the Foreign Ministry.

Binah holds degrees, with honors, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Haifa University and Israel's National Defense College.
