Vuyiswa Tulelo
South African Consul General

Vuyiswa Tulelo is Head of Mission at the Chicago office of the South African Consul General. She most recently headed the Youth and Gender Chief Directorate in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation and was the Secretary General for the African National Congress Youth League. In that position she was integral in the execution of the league’s second 2008 conference in Johannesburg and the 2011 conference in Midrand.

She has been responsible for helping young entrepreneurs with the Umsobomvu Youth Fund and for formulating South African Youth Policy with the National Youth Commission. She served as Vice President of the International Union of Socialist Youth from 2007-2011, organized the World Student and Youth Festival in South Africa in 2010 and has participated in the organization of youth programs for the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2006 and the World Summit against Racism in 2001.

Tulelo has a degree in Politics and Sociology from the Wits University.
