Application Process

The application can be found at myPantherAbroad.uwm.edu.

 If you are interested in a semester or year-long program, you are strongly encouraged to meet with your academic advisor to discuss how it will fit into your timetable for graduation at UWM.

Application requirements differ by program type and some may have additional requirements. If you are unsure about which type of program you are interested in, consult the program information on the webpage and/or ask a member of the Study Abroad Office Staff in Pearse 166 (414-229-5182; overseas@uwm.edu).

Application Deadlines

Completed applications for UWM and non-UWM programs are due by the following deadlines:

  • October 1: Spring Semester
  • October 15: UWinteriM & Spring Break
  • March 1: Academic Year & Fall Semester
  • March 15: Summer

** Please note that some programs may have earlier deadlines. Always consult the program page for the official application deadline.

General Application Requirements by Program Type

 Short-term Programs (UWinteriM, Spring Break, Summer)

  •  $250 Deposit (Includes a $50 non-refundable application fee)
  • Read, complete and e-sign required documents
  • 1 Academic recommendation
  • Unofficial UWM transcript
  • Copy of valid passport
  • Any additional materials as specified by application To-Do List

 Long-term Programs (Academic Year & Semester)

  •  $250 Deposit (Includes a $50 non-refundable application fee)
  • Meet with Study Abroad Coordinator
  • Read, complete & e-sign required documents
  • 2 Academic recommendations
  • Unofficial UWM transcript
  • Academic Advisor conference
  • Student statement
  • Language requirements & evaluation (if applicable)
  • Copy of valid passport
  • Any addtional materials as specified by application To-Do List

 Non-UWM Programs & Global Studies Internships

  • $250 Deposit (Includes a $50 non-refundable application fee)
  • Meet with Study Abroad Coordinator
  • Read, complete & e-sign required  documents
  • Unofficial UWMt transcript
  • Copy of valid passport
  • Academic Advisor conference
  • Language requirements & evaluation (if applicable)

 Independent Internship, Study, or Research and Non-credit Trips

UWM students planning for-credit or UWM-funded internships, study, or research abroad must register with the Study Abroad Office. There is a $100 administration fee for this service.
