Program Leader Pre-Departure Orientation
UW System policy guidelines require that all program leaders and assistants leading study abroad programs attend a pre-departure orientation. CIE convenes orientation sessions twice per year, in December and in May (check the Important Dates website for specific information). First-time program leaders are required to attend this orientation. If first-time program leaders are unable to attend a scheduled orientation session, they must schedule an individual orientation with CIE prior to departure.
Opt Out Option
Program leaders who have previously led a study program abroad are encouraged to attend the orientation but may elect to "opt out" if they have attended an orientation in the previous 24 months. To do so, complete the Program Leader Orientation Opt Out Form and submit it to the study abroad office. In opting out, individuals acknowledge that they understand and comply with all study abroad policies and agree to submit all required pre-departure materials to the study abroad office in advance of their program's start date.
