Academic Programs

The Center for International Education supports an array of interdisciplinary, internationally-focused academic opportunities for UWM students and faculty.

Global Studies Program
The Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and the Global Studies Minor allow students to incorporate a meaningful international dimension into their pre-professional studies. Key aspects include language study, overseas study, internships, and professional coursework. 

International Studies Program
International Studies offers a major and minor for students interested in the liberal arts, with emphases in (A) International Politics and World Affairs, (B) International Economics and Development, or (C) World Languages and Cultures.

Certificate Programs
Interdisciplinary certificates complement a variety of majors and include: Asian Studies; French and Francophone Studies; Middle Eastern and North African Studies; Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution; and Russian and East European Studies.

Partnership in Sustainability and Peacebuilding
Through the Partnership in Sustainability and Peacebuilding (PSP) and its interdisciplinary Master of Sustainable Peacebuilding (MSP) degree, CIE fosters a systems thinking approach to teaching, research, outreach, and practice of peacebuilding, broadly defined.

Conferences
CIE scholarly conferences promote cutting-edge research on global issues.

Publications
CIE sponsors a wide variety of academic publications.

Language Programs
UWM offers over a dozen world languages.
