Non-UWM and Global Studies Internship Program Application Steps

Unable to find a UWM study abroad or exchange program that fits your needs? Participating in a Global Studies internship? The study abroad office can help you.

Working through the study abroad office is required for all UWM students who wish to use financial aid.  The study abroad office will also assist you with academic planning, maintaining your status as a UWM student, pre-departure orientation, and the processing of credits earned abroad so they count toward your major. All credits earned on non-UWM study abroad programs count as transfer credits toward your UWM degree.

Students participating in a Global Studies Internship MUST work with the UWM Study abroad office.  Please see the steps below.

  • will not receive credit for their experience abroad until CIE has processed their transcript after the program has ended. There is a $250 fee for this service; and
  • may not be able to receive UWM credit for their non-UWM program if the program does not have proper accreditation.

Have a valid passport? If not, apply for one NOW! Passports are valid for 10 years; you should apply now even if you are only thinking about participating in a program.
