The new location for the UWM Center for Jewish Studies

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Center for Jewish Studies was established in 1997 with generous grants from the Helen Bader Foundation, the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning as well as Scher Fund, which were matched by UWM. The center serves the UWM campus and the greater Milwaukee community by initiating and conducting academic and community events (such as guest lectures, conferences, workshops and seminars), as well as by promoting and fostering teaching and scholarship in a variety of disciplines engaged with Jewish Studies. In 2007, the UWM Center for Jewish Studies successfully launched the Jewish Studies Major and Minor, which offers tracks in Hebrew and Jewish Cultural Studies.
