Community-Based Work Study Programs
America Reads Tutors Program
If you receive work-study as part of your federal financial aid, you are eligible to be an America Reads Tutor at a local MPS School! Being a Tutor will be great for your resume, help you build connections in the community, and allow you to make a difference in the lives of local kids. In this program, you earn $9.25 per hour working at a local school helping kids with basic reading, writing, and arithmetic. Email rachels9@uwm.edu to learn more.
Bonner Leaders Scholarship Program
The Bonner Leaders Program awards 25 first- or second-year students a $1,100 scholarship after they complete 260 hours of paid or unpaid community service and complete a 3-credit leadership development course.
