Who are the UWM Campus Ambassadors?

The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Campus Ambassadors (CAs) are a prestigious group of students who are recognized and called upon for their leadership and contributions to the life and culture of the University. Students participate in a variety of campus activities, initiatives, and mentoring designed to better shape the direction of new students, help attain the University’s goals, and further augment its schools, colleges and other campus units.

The 2008-2009 Campus Ambassadors have been a dynamic group of individuals who helped welcome over 4,400 new students and their families to the UWM community. In the 2009-2010 school year, a whole new group of student leaders will serve as part of the Campus Ambassador team. You could be part of the team! Learn more about the Campus Ambassador position.

For the 2009-2010 academic year, the Campus Ambassador role at UWM will encompass three different positions. Campus Ambassadors can apply for and fill any combination of these three positions. The three positions that our 2009-2010 Campus Ambassadors will be filling are…

New Freshman Orientation Leader -
Campus Ambassadors engage and welcome new students and their parents at the New Freshman Orientation programs during the summer months. As a New Freshman Orientation Leader you will be leading groups of new students through the program as well as, giving tours, administering materials, and/or helping students register for classes during any one of our New Freshman Orientation Programs.

First Year Center Mentor -
After students have been to New Freshman Orientation, the FYC Mentors will be charged with helping new freshmen acclimate to campus. As a FYC Mentor you will be focusing on connecting with these students via phone, email and face-to-face throughout the academic year and helping them adjust to campus life.

LINKS Peer Mentor -
LINKS Peer Mentors do similar work as the First Year Center Mentors, but work with a diverse population of students including upperclassman and transfer students.

How can you reconnect with your CA from the New Freshman Orientation program?
