2015-2016 COAST Leader Employment Application

COAST Leaders are students hired, trained, supported, and supervised by the Neighborhood Housing Office to serve as peer educators and resources for identified neighborhoods. These student leaders have the opportunity to plan events, network, and communicate with their surrounding neighbors (including student tenants, landlords, and long term residents) to create a stronger sense of community.COAST Leaders are not in a position to set rules or enforce local ordinances, but they are available for conflict mediation, referrals, and complaint follow-ups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled full-time at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.(Must be maintained while employed). 
  • Have earned and maintain a minimum of 2.5 Cumulative GPA and 2.5 Semester GPA during employment. Eligible candidates and employees may not be on disciplinary probation with the University. 
  • Must have experienced living off-campus near or around campus for at least one academic year.

2015-2016 NHO Program Specialists Application

The Program Specialist is a student staff position with significant leadership duties and administrative responsibilities in the Neighborhood Housing Office (NHO). In addition to office tasks, Program Specialists serve in a variety of capacities, including managing detailed online property listings, educating students on tenant rights and responsibilities, and communicating with and making referrals to community members and other University partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled full-time at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. (Must be maintained while employed).
  • Have earned and maintain a minimum of 2.5 Cumulative GPA and 2.5 Semester GPA during employment. Eligible candidates and employees may not be on disciplinary probation with the University.
  • Previous office and customer service work experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with students, landlords, family members, and community leaders both in one-on-one conversation as well as large audiences and presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required, specifically Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
