If you interact with students in an instructional or advisory capacity, you almost certainly have records which need to be managed in accordance with FERPA and other laws and regulations. UWM Records Officer Brad Houston will discuss your responsibilities regarding student records, including retention periods, privacy practices, and university policy. The seminar will also cover new technologies being used to handle student records, such as D2L, and how they affect your records practices. New this year will be a brief discussion of social media interactions with students.
