As part of UWM's ongoing preparation for re-accreditation, the Provosts Office and the Center for Instructional and Professional Development (CIPD) will host the first annual Assessment Showcase. Goals of the Assessment Showcase are: to highlight the work being done by individuals, departments and programs around campus in assessing student learning; to encourage collaboration between individuals, departments and programs as they continue to work on assessing student learning; to promote successful strategies and practices; to make connections between assessing work in individual courses and meeting department/program learning outcomes. The program will include lunch, a keynote address by Jo Beld (Professor of Political Science and Director of Evaluation and Assessment at St. Olaf College), roundtable discussions, and posters presented by UWM faculty, staff, and departments. Attendees will have opportunities to see and discuss many different techniques and strategies and to schedule follow up meetings as desired with the presenters. The UWM First Friday reception and program, which follows at 4:00PM, will provide an opportunity to continue this informal interaction and other discussions.
