The Leadership Certificate series is comprised of four programs designed to introduce participants to tools and ideas that increase their ability to lead successfully.
The series will not only expose participants, but will actively engage them in dialogue regarding best practices, pitfalls and how to recognize success, even when things did not work out as planned.
The first program is Engaging Conflict in the Workplace with Skill & Knowledge . Conflict is a natural reaction to the way we perceive differences between our wants, needs, interests, or expectations and those of others. Anytime people work together, these differences are present. We do not have a choice about having differences with others in the workplace. However, we do have a choice in how we respond to those differences.
The second program,
UWM Ombuds Council: An Introduction , will be presenting information about one of the many tools on campus to assist with managing conflict, the UWM Ombuds council.
The third program, The Dynamics of Leadership will be devoted to understanding leadership and how to lead effectively.
The culmination of this series will be a two hour workshop, Leadership: Lessons Learned, Lessons Shared with the program presenters to engage in a dialogue about what worked, what didn't work, fresh ideas and new methods. The group will be asked to engage with each other as well as the presenters in this session so that lessons learned might be lessons shared
