Safe Space Training: Ally Development
Ally Development is a professional development workshop intended to provide knowledge to use campus services to create a more inclusive campus environment for LGBT+ identified students. Ally Development provides foundational knowledge of the LGBT 101 workshop and more in depth knowledge for ally development and components of gender and sexuality. Participants will learn about what it means to be an ally, intersectionality along with privilege, power, and marginalization, barriers relevant to LGBT+ campus members, and how to address barriers of LGBT+ campus members as allies. After completion of Ally Development, participants will receive a Safe Space card to display in their office space. The Safe Space card symbolizes the office space being a safe location for contact for LGBT+ identified campus members and allies. Note: LGBT 101 is not a required prerequisite for Ally Development workshop.
