Program Dates and Costs

Registration Deadline

The registration deadline is one month before the session start date.

  • For Fall 2008, the deadline is July 25, 2008.
  • For Spring 2009, the deadline is December 16, 2008.

Please note that amounts for dormitory housing are estimates only. Actual costs vary according to location, type of room and time of year, and are determined by the UWM Housing Office (www.universityhousing.uwm.edu).

For I-20 Applicants Only

Applicants must show evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses for a full time course of study, using the following estimates.
16 week semester: $7,850 8 week session: $4,500 One month: $2,550
Summer session: 8 week summer session: $4,580 One month summer: $2,590
Proof of financial support is required at the time of application. Proof can be in the form of a checking, saving, money market, CD account (an attested letter or statement from the financial institution) and/or a letter of award from a government or other sponsoring organization. If the funds are in foreign currency, the statement must include conversion to U.S. dollars.

Application Process

Initial payment due at the time of application: $125 registration fee (non refundable); $300 tuition deposit; optional $75 payment for express mail service of I-20 documents, otherwise documents will be sent by airmail.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Written notification of cancellation must be received in the ESL Programs Office 30 days before the first day of the course for full refund of tuition deposit ($300). There is no refund of the registration fee. No refund is made when notice of cancellation is received after the first day of class of a semester, session or month for which the student is enrolled.
