Complete program costs are listed below by term.  Please note that some costs are estimates. Costs may change without notice.

Cancellation or Withdrawal

  • Notification of cancellation or withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the ESL Programs Office.
  • There may be charges for cancellation or early withdrawal from the program.
  • The application fee is not refundable.
  • Return of I-20: A student who receives an I-20 and subsequently cancels enrollment is required to return the original I-20 to the ESL Program Office before a refund can be issued.

1 University fee, required by university for Health Center, Sports Center + bus pass
2 IEP Fee:  Student activities:  Welcome + Farewell activities, excursions off campus.
3 Group health insurance available from SAS for UWM students
4 Cost of shared double room in Sandburg Residence.  Actual cost will vary.
5 Estimated at $100 per week
6 Applicants requesting an I-20 must show proof of funding in this amount.

New students: Add one-time non-refundable application fee: $ 130
Payment due date: Payment of tuition and fees are due on the Monday of the week before the first day of class. There is a one-week grace period.
Late fee charges:

Late placement testing fee: $ 60
Assessed for any late or rescheduled placement test.
Late payment fee: $ 25
Assessed monthly for any late payment made one week after due date.
UWM also assess a charge of 1% per month for all late payments.
Late registration fee: $ 75
For registrations received after the deadline.
Continuing students must re-register for each new term (semester or summer session).
