Professor Kuiper's areas of specialization include French linguistics, sociolinguistics and dialectology. More recently, his research has focused on the connections of French language with French cuisine. He was an ESL instructor and special program coordinator for 8 years (1991-1998) at Michigan State University. His non-academic interests include cooking and playing guitar.
