Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get to campus?
Directions to campus and the UWM Student Union are available here (just click on a campus building to get custom directions to that location).
Where and when do we check-in?
Saturday check-in will take place from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the Concourse (ground level) of the UWM Student Union, 2200 E Kenwood Blvd. All registrants will receive a Family Weekend Badge and an information folder. If you plan to arrive later than 11 a.m., please contact us at 414-229-5188.
Where can we park?
Parking is available in the in the UWM Student Union Parking Garage; you can also purchase a discounted parking pass for $5.00 when you register for Family Weekend. You do not need to pay upon entrance, but you will need a parking pass to exit the structure.
We discourage families from parking on the neighborhood streets surrounding the campus.
We're planning to arrive on Friday--is there anything happening that day?
While Family Weekend officially takes place Saturday and Sunday, there are many events and activities happening Friday both on and off campus. A list of those events will be posted on the Family Weekend website as they become available.
Are we supposed to attend all the events?
No. Family Weekend is designed to appeal to a variety of interests, so we offer many different options, depending on your family's particular interests. Your registration fee entitles you to attend all events (with the exception of the Panther Prowl, which requires separate registration), but feel free to attend as many or as few events as you like.
Are all families welcome?
Yes!! Although advertising for Family Weekend is generally geared towards first-year students, families of all UWM students are invited to attend.
We have special needs. Who should we contact?
The registration form includes requests for dietary accommodations and special needs. Requests for accommodations must be received by the registration deadline.
