Important Announcement!

Many changes in the financial aid process are being implemented for 2008-2009 - which begins with the fall term. Please read this information carefully.

New for 2008-2009!!

Paper copies of financial aid awards will no longer be mailed. Students will be sent an email followed by a postcard telling them to access their PAWS account in order to view and accept their awards.

Students will need to access their PAWS account in order to:
Accept any loans or federal work study offered

You may also:
  • Reduce any loan amounts offered
  • Decline any aid offered
  • Read any messages normally printed on the back of an award letter
  • Notify the Financial Aid Office if they won't enroll full-time or if they are receiving any other financial resources
  • UWM will require that parents wishing to borrow a Parent PLUS Loan first submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.)
  • Students wishing to borrow an alternative loan will be strongly encouraged to submit a FAFSA prior to our certifying the loan application in order that they may first be considered for more favorable financing options.

 

Ask the Panther

Students and parents with general questions are encouraged to use a new feature available - "Ask the Panther." This is an online tool available through our website. You can submit your questions 24/7 and "The Panther" will be able to answer most of them immediately. Any that can't be answered will be routed to a staff member who will then follow-up as quickly as possible.




The Financial Aid Department will begin determining awards for the 2008-2009 academic year this week. If you plan on attending classes and have not yet filed a FAFSA, please do so as soon as possible. You should continue to watch your emails for an announcement telling you your awards have been determined and providing you with information on what to do next.
