This chart only takes into consideration your tuition expense. You will need to determine whether the financial aid you have been offered is sufficient to cover your other educational expenses based on your own individual budget. If the aid you have been offered is less than your Estimated Cost of Attendance, you could consider an Alternative Educational Loan or the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) as another resource. Graduate students may apply for the Graduate PLUS loan. Read the insert for more information. Visit our website for details and to apply online using one of our preferred lenders. Allow 4-8 weeks for processing of this type of loan request.

If the last row is a negative number, you will need to pay this amount to the Bursar's Office. Due dates are typically 10 days before the start of the semester. You will be charged interest at the rate of 1% per month on any balance owed after the due date. If there is a positive amount, this is the remaining balance that you have available to use for other educational expenses such as food, housing, or books. A check is mailed to you from the Bursar's Office that should arrive during the first week of classes.

Federal Work Study (FWS) is not included in this chart because you do not receive it in one lump sum. You must be hired in a FWS position. You receive your funding through earning a biweekly paycheck. Determining Need 

Federal methodology (FM) is used to determine an applicant's eligibility for aid. The Federal Government mandates formulas which measure a family's ability to pay for a post secondary education. Your EFC (estimated family contribution) is calculated using the information provided on the FAFSA.

The equation for determining need is:
Cost of Attendance - Family Contribution (determined by FM) = Financial Need (a student is eligible for this amount in need based financial assistance.)

The financial aid award assumes the student will be paying full-time fees. If this assumption is not accurate, the offer may be reduced. A student must be enrolled at least half-time to receive aid (except for PELL grant assistance.)
