Stringalong Gathering - March 5-7, 2010

CLASSES AND EVENING ACTIVITIES
ALL GATHERING CLASSES ARE STUDENT-LED: Many of our Stringalong Gathering participants have been following acoustic music, dance and creative art forms for decades, and have interesting talents to share such as: how to play an instrument (a guitar, dulcimer, autoharp, fiddle, banjo, ukulele, etc.), song swaps or singing rounds, all kinds of dancing, cooking (there are small kitchens), storytelling, gardening, nature experiences, world crafts, songwriting, folklore, cultural knowledge, etc. If you have a skill or talent, please share it with us! Upon arrival on Friday, participants describe the classes they will lead/ teach (optional) on a chart. Each class is assigned an hour or 1-1/2 hours in a specific room. Participants attend what they wish or enjoy the outdoors. Evenings are full of singing and jamming in a lounge by the fire.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT CLASSES TO TEACH OR WHAT IS OFFERED?
We use an online chat room to talk to each other in the weeks before the Gathering takes place. People mention classes they want to teach, float ideas, and ask if others are interested. Those who do not want to teach can watch the online discussions, ask questions, see what classes they might take and learn what they need to bring, if anything. To sign up:

  1. Go to http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/StringingAlong
  2. Click “JOIN” and follow the prompts.
  3. After joining, you can email the entire group at StringingAlong@yahoogroups.com
