Research interests

The major research theme of my lab is the development of marine robots for scientific research and environmental monitoring. Our current work is focused on amphibious robots that can be deployed from dry land, drive out into the crashing surf to make measurements and take samples, and come back home to dry land to deliver their scientific "goods." These vehicles can be used as individual mobile sensor platforms or in a coordinated group to form a portable near-shore observatory.
