Admission Requirements
If you have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA on 12 or more attempted credits (at UWM and at another accredited institution), you may be offered readmission to UWM.
If your GPA outside UWM is below a 2.0 but combined with your GPA at UWM equals a 2.0 or higher, you may also be offered admission. Admission to the university, however, does not necessarily guarantee admission to your major or program. To gain admission to your major, you may need to meet additional requirements.
Admission to Your Major/Program Usually, advancement in your major is accomplished during your junior year. Although the minimum GPA set by the individual schools and colleges is 2.5, some majors/programs will require a higher GPA to advance in the program.
If you are interested in receiving specific major information, please contact the UWM school/college to which you might apply. If you are not sure where a particular major is housed, please view the school/college homepage for more information. For a listing of UWM's programs, please search Major Mania.
What happens if I don't meet the admissions requirements? If a review of your application shows that you do not meet the minimum admission requirements, you may appeal your decision in writing to the dean of the school or college to which you applied. After an admission examiner has reviewed your application, the appeal process will be further explained.
