GIS Laboratories and Facilities
Hardware and Software
PROWLnet is a wireless network access system accessible to all eligible students, faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The PROWLnet system allows access to the UWM wireless network from access point locations across campus, allowing network access for both university and non-university computers across campus.
Computer laboratories in multiple locations at UWM are available for GIS instruction and research. All public Campus Computer Laboratories are running campus site licensed GIS software, including the current Esri products and IDRISI. UWM has a 15-seat concurrent use license for ERDAS (installed in public computer labs, only 15 copies of the program can be in operation at any one time). Qualified members of the UWM campus community are eligible for a one-year education use only copy of ArcGIS.
A list of resources available to the UWM community to learn ArcGIS can be found at http://www4.uwm.edu/gis/resources/learn-gis.cfm
