The Child Welfare Training Program is designed to enhance the educational qualifications of public child welfare staff in Milwaukee County by allowing current and future employees to earn the MSW and/or BSW degree. The program serves the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare and its two lead partner agencies: Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin (CSSW) and Integrated Families Services (IFS).
Funds for the program, which began in 1993, are provided by the state and by federal matching funds available under Title IV-E of the Social Security Act.
Four program options are available. Current Bureau or partner-agency employees may apply for a full-time MSW option or a part-time MSW option. Recent applicants to UWM’s MSW program may apply for a full-time MSW option. BSW students in the department may apply for a full-time BSW option. Full descriptions of each are available by clicking on one of the links below.
