Larry Baldassaro, Director

Larry Baldassaro has been a professor of Italian at UWM since receiving the Ph.D. in Italian from Indiana University in 1972. He has served as Chair of the Department of French and Italian and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate and has received the AMOCO Award for Distinguished Teaching. He has published numerous articles on Dante in American and Italian journals and has also written on Italian film, politics, and the mafia. In addition to his work in Italian studies, he enjoys writing about baseball history. He is the editor of Ted Williams: Reflections on a Splendid Life (2003) and co-editor of The American Game: Baseball and Ethnicity (2002). He also writes for the Milwaukee Brewers magazine and pitched batting practice for the Brewers in 1992, the last time they had a winning season.
