The Honors CommunityGarland hall, home of the honors college

The Honors Community, located in Sandburg Halls, fosters learning that occurs outside the walls of the classroom, in the conversations that happen when enthusiastic people come together to benefit from each other's knowledge and experience. We believe in empowering students to shape their own community and their own educational experiences with a wide array of special programs conceived, designed, and implemented by undergraduates working together with supportive faculty and staff members.

Requirements

Residents include first-year students with sophomores, juniors, and seniors, thereby encouraging undergraduates to get to know students from outside their own classes. The minimum requirement for residency in the Honors Community is a 3.5 GPA or membership in the UWM Honors College. Students from every school, department, and program are encouraged to apply. Residents make a conscious commitment to build a community of students who want to make the most of their college  experience. Most of all, Honors Community residents are involved. They work and play hard, and they give as much as they get from the community around them. By sharing generously with the people around them, they themselves benefit enormously.

How To Apply

When you receive your University Housing Contract, choose Honors Community as your first room preference. Every effort will be made to assign eligible students to the Honors Community.
