Cambridge Commons Move In Procedures

Please follow these guidelines to make move-in as easy as possible.

Driving Directions

From I-43, take the Locust Street exit and head east Turn right on Humboldt Blvd and drive for approximately 1 mile. Turn left at North Avenue. Follow North Avenue over the bridge. Cambridge Commons is on the left.

Traffic

When you arrive at Cambridge, street parking will be available on Cambridge Avenue, as well as along the North Avenue bridge.

If you have purchased a Cambridge reserved parking permit, you can turn left into the driveway after the building to enter the parking garage. Once in the garage, take the elevator to the first floor to get your key and move-in materials.

Checking In

Check in at the Cambridge Commons Service Desk to receive room keys and get pictures taken for security purposes. After you've checked in at the Cambridge Service Desk, you can borrow a cart and unload your belongings. We encourage you to only bring one vehicle during your move-in due to the limited parking in front of Cambridge Commons.

After Unloading

Once you have unloaded your vehicle, you are encouraged to move it to an alternate parking location. Public street parking is available on Commerce Street, south of North Avenue, and paid garage parking is available in Kenilworth Square Apartments on Kenilworth Place and Farwell Avenue.

Room Furnishings & Dimensions

Each student is provided with a bed frame (bunkable), mattress (extra long), mattress pad, desk, chair, dresser, bookshelf, and wastebasket. Students are not allow to bring refrigerators in Cambridge Commons due to LEED Gold Certification. Because of this, University Housing has equipped each suite with full-size refrigerators. Each suite has a semi-private bathroom, and residents are expected to maintain clean and sanitary conditions. All rooms have window blinds and carpet. All furniture must remain in the resident’s room. A microwave is provided in the shared kitchen on each floor. Room dimensions are available online. Dimensions of suites, virtual tours, and more info about Cambridge rooms can be found here.

Lofts

If you wish to loft your bed, you must rent a loft from University Housing; homemade lofts are not allowed. The cost for a loft rental for new Spring 2014 contract holders is $50 for the semester. If you are interested in renting a loft, please submit a work order requesting a loft for your room at fixit.uwm.edu.

In order to have a loft delivered to your room prior to moving in, you must apply for a loft before January 1. Cancellations will be accepted December 1, 2013, through January 21, 2014. No refunds will be given after January 21, 2014, for any reason. If you choose to wait to rent a loft, you will be able to request one via work order after the first week of classes.
