Sandburg Move In Day

Please follow these guidelines to make move-in as easy as possible.

Traffic will be directed north-bound on Maryland Avenue to enter the Sandburg parking structure. Oversize vehicles (7’ or taller) and trailers will not be permitted in the parking garage. While these vehicles can be accommodated in the Sandburg circle drive for one hour, they are not recommended for move in. Once in the Sandburg Parking Garage, take the elevator (near South Tower) or the central stairs to the First Floor Commons.

Check in at the Sandburg Service Desk to receive your room keys and get pictures taken for security purposes. After you've checked in at the Sandburg Service Desk, you can borrow a cart and unload your belongings. After completing the check-in process at the Service Desk, the student can take the central staircase to the parking garage and meet up with the student's family to begin taking belongings inside. We encourage you to only bring one vehicle during your move-in due to the limited parking in he Sandburg Parking Garage.

When you arrive, you will be given one hour to unload your belongings and get them up to your room.

After your car is unloaded, you will be asked to move it to the nearby Pavilion parking structure so we can make room for additional vehicles.

Driving Directions

From I-43 or I-94 near Downtown, take I-794 east to the Lakefront exit. Go north along the lake on Lincoln Memorial Drive to the top of the hill. Turn right on Lake Drive. Go two blocks and take a left on Hartford. Follow Hartford to campus and turn right on Maryland Ave.

Hints for Packing

Make sure all of your belongings are packed securely in boxes or sturdy baskets. During move-in, you will have access to moving carts. If you are able to easily stack your belongings on these carts and secure them with the wrap, you will significantly speed up the move-in process. Loose items are hard to transport on carts.

You don't need to bring all of your belongings during move-in! Bring what you know you will need, and then wait a few days until you have a better idea of how much space you will have. You can always bring more items after the move-in period.
