Sandburg Move In Day
Students will move into Sandburg Halls between August 29 and September 1. Please follow these guidelines to make move-in as easy as possible.
Traffic
Traffic will be directed north-bound on Maryland Avenue to enter the Sandburg parking structure. Oversize vehicles (7’ or taller) and trailers will not be permitted in the parking garage. While these vehicles can be accommodated in the Sandburg circle drive for one hour, they are not recommended for move in as most of our services are based in the parking garage.
If there is a line of cars on Maryland Avenue, it may speed up the process if the student is able to exit the vehicle and proceed to the entrance of Sandburg, leaving the driver of the vehicle to enter the garage. The student can go to “Flicks” (located in the lobby on the first floor) and follow the posted directions to receive room keys and get pictures taken for security purposes. After completing this process, the student can take a central stairway to the parking garage and meet up with his/her family to begin taking belongings inside.
Unloading
To minimize wait times, please try to arrive no more than 15 minutes before or 45 minutes after your move in appointment. When you arrive, you will be given one hour to unload your belongings and get them up to your room. Don’t worry – we have plenty of Move In staff that will help you accomplish this. In order to unload your vehicle efficiently, please make sure all items are packed neatly in boxes or other containers to load onto moving carts (provided - Student ID required to check out). After your car is unloaded, you will be asked to move it to the nearby Pavilion parking structure so we can make room for more vehicles.
Please remember, you are only allotted one trip during the Move In period, although you may bring up to two vehicles during your move in appointment. If you wish to make multiple trips to move in, please bring additional belongings after 7:00PM or after the official move in period ends. Please note that after 7:00PM from August 29 - September 1, parking is only allowed in the Sandburg circle drive and the lower level of the parking garage. No staff assistance is available after 7:00PM. All guests wishing to enter Sandburg through the lobby at this time are required to obtain a guest pass.
Driving Directions
From I-43 or I-94 near Downtown, take I-794 east to the Lakefront exit. Go north along the lake on Lincoln Memorial Drive to the top of the hill. Turn right on Lake Drive. Go two blocks and take a left on Hartford. Follow Hartford to campus and turn right on Maryland Ave.
