To All Move In Volunteers:

THANK YOU for volunteering your time to assist with our fall move in.  Without volunteers like you, our move in process would not be a success.

Staff may sign up for the building and the shifts they want to work by using the following website and making individual selections: http://www2.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?datafile=uwmmovein.

A short description of each position follows:

Cardboard – Collects and breaks down boxes.

Carts – Checks in and out cards by swiping IDs, verifying that carts are organized and ready for pick up. The cart lead is responsible for the whole cart area.

Circle Drive - Directs vehicles and their trailers into and out of the circle drive and does not allow general traffic into the drive.

Klotsche - Direct movers from Klotsche back to Sandburg or elsewhere around campus and gives out campus maps.

Pavilion Entrance - Meet cars and verify they have a housing parking hang tag.  Help direct them back to Sandburg Hall or to another campus location.

Parking Garage Traffic Control RVW - Welcome the guests to Riverview, explain the move in process and direct cars where to park.

Garage 1 and 2 CC - Inside the garage in Cambridge Commons these people will welcome the guests to Cambridge, assist them with parking, and provide assistance with wrapping belongings.

Lobby Greeter CC - Inside the lobby of Cambridge Commons is the greeter who directs students to the check in room and helps answer questions about the building and campus.

Runner – You perform tasks of a wrapper but you also are the person who gets water, and fills in when someone in the garage needs to use the restroom.

Wrapper - Move throughout the garage observing as people load carts with their possessions. Once a cart looks fairly well loaded, greet the movers and ask to saran wrap their cart to keep their things from falling and making their move a bit easier.

If you need to update any of your information after you have signed up, please return to http://www2.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?datafile=uwmmovein and make any changes. The last day to make changes is August 12, 2013. The move-in schedule will be emailed out no later than August 19, 2013).  Any changes from the emailed schedule need to be submitted by August 21, 2013 at 5 PM so we can adjust or fill shifts.

We will try to keep the schedule how you signed up, but depending on need, we may need to move you. For this reason, checking the final e-mailed schedule on August 19, 2013 is very important. Please keep an eye out for it.

We will continue to update this page with pertinent information as move-in approaches. Please check back regularly.

MANDATORY VOLUNTEER TRAINING FOR SANDBURG VOLUNTEERS

On Monday, August 26 from 9am to noon there is mandatory training for all volunteers and staff.  You will need to attend the training session(s) that correlates to the areas that you’re assigned to work.  If you are assigned to work in only one area, you only need to attend that one training session. If you work in multiple areas (i.e. carts and then Maryland Runner) you would need to attend the two sessions. You are welcome to attend which ever session fits into your schedule.

*If you are volunteering with a group, please note that each individual member of the group must sign up for their own shifts to work.

If you know of anyone who is interested in volunteering from your area, who has yet to sign up, please encourage them to volunteer!  We still need quite a few volunteers for this year’s move in.  Also this is a great chance to network with new students and make connections early on!

If you have any questions please contact Sam Warner at 414.229.4065 or movein-help@uwm.edu.  Thank you again for your support and time.
