Summer Intern Housingcambridge

Each Summer, from the end of May to the beginning of August, UW-Milwaukee's University Housing partners with more than 30 Milwaukee-based companies to provide housing options in Cambridge Commons for their summer interns. We provide an affordable, safe, and relaxing home, for interns as they prepare for their professional experiences. Sponsoring companies have confidence that their summer interns are being housed in an engaging environment with other young emerging professionals.

Rooms are available from May 26, 2013 through August 10, 2013. A minimum 4-week contract is required.

Amenities


Location

Cambridge Commons is located at 2323 N. Cambridge Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211, on the corner of North Avenue and Cambridge Ave.This location provides direct access to MCTS bus route 30 with easy access to downtown and ability to connect with other bus routes allowing residents to get anywhere in the city with ease. Indoor reserved parking at both Cambridge Commons ($35 per week) and Kenilworth Square ($25 per week) are available on site during the academic year. Cambridge Commons is surrounded by many local restaurants, grocery stores and blocks away from the vibrant East Side of Milwaukee.


Suites


Each suite is composed of two separate bedrooms. each with a capacity of two people. These bedrooms are utilized as singles during the summer. The bedrooms offer a large closet area just off the entrance, as well as beds, dressers and desks in each room. Linens are not provided. Every suite is equipped with a full-size refrigerator.  In addition, each suite has a vanity area and bathroom. The complex is fully air conditioned and non-smoking. A standard single is $137 per week. A limited number of shared standard suites (two residents per bedroom) are available for $105 per week.

Upgraded Suites

Limited Upgraded suites are also available, and have the luxury of a furnished living room and full kitchen. Living rooms are furnished with 2 love seats, 2 end tables, and a coffee table. The kitchen has a breakfast bar and stools. Upgraded suites are $189 per week for an Upgraded Single per person. 

The Commons

A computer center, music practice rooms, fitness center, laundry center are all located on the first floor of Cambridge Commons. A convenience store (Restor+More) is located in the Cambridge Commons and features evening and weekend hours. An Intern Center Coordinator will provide networking and social activities and information. A Grind Coffee Shop and mini UWM Bookstore are also located within Cambridge Commons in the Retail Outlets on North Avenue. Cambridge Commons is also LEED GOLD Certified (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) with two green roofs, Riverfront Courtyard, and ADA river access.


Lounge/Kitchenettes

A resident lounge is located at the middle of each floor. The lounge provides a common gathering area for residents, and is equipped with a television and a kitchen with a microwave, stove, oven and sink. Every lounge has windows over looking the courtyard and Milwaukee River. Dishes are not provided.


Meeting Rooms

Cambridge Commons also has on site classrooms and conference rooms equipped with AV equipment that can be used for presentations, meetings, and classes. There are two study rooms on each floor (with the exception of the first floor) that can be used by all residents. These areas are a 24-hour quiet study environment.


Cable Television

Each resident room has one cable television jack. Residents must provide their own coaxial cable and television. The Time Warner standard cable package is provided to all residents free of charge. Residents can purchase coaxial cable at any retail outlet or at the Service Desk for $5.


Internet Access

All resident rooms are equipped with high speed internet access for each resident at no additional fee. Standard connection cables may be purchased at any retail outlet or at the Service Desk for $5. There is no wi-fi in the complex unless you have a UWM email account.


Laundry

The laundry center is located on the first floor. The center is open 24-hours a day. All washers and dryers are operated using a resident Gold Account (cards will be distributed to all residents). The cost is $1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry. Cash can be deposited to the Gold Account at a cash value station located in the laundry center. Residents can monitor their laundry and view open machines online at www.laundryalert.com by entering "uwm8101".


Mail

Resident mail boxes are located on the second floor. Mail is delivered by the US Postal Service 6 days per week. Packages larger than the mailbox are held for residents at the Service Desk, and a package notification is emailed and/or placed in their mailbox.


Parking

Limited parking permits are available in Cambridge Commons for $35/week. Additional parking permits are available for Kenilworth Square Apartments at $25/week. Kenilworth is approximately 4 blocks east of Cambridge Commons.

Security

Our 24-hour Service and Security desk operations provide a safe and secure environment for our Summer residents. Cambridge Commons offers a secure environment while allowing easy access to its residents. The 24 hour locked lobby is accessible by swiping an ID (issued at check-in). The indoor parking structure is also secured by an electronic permit system.


Contracts/Payments


Contracts are available for any length of stay between May 26, 2013 and August 10, 2013, with 4 weeks being the minimum. Discounts may be available for Corporate groups of 50+ interns. Companies who choose to pay for their interns can do so via a group contract, or individual interns can contract with us for their stay. A minimum 5 working days notice is requested. A deposit of $100 with contract is to be paid as the remainder is due upon arrival.
