| A class taught during Preservation Week b y Nikos Vakalis, The SARUP Fresco Course was a five part class that introduces the basic materials of fresco creation associated with the traditional Roman, Byzantine, and Renaissance wall painting techniques. Students learned about pigment/ building medium according to the main painting techniques: tempura, oil, and watercolor. Review the usual supports that are used for each painting technique, and the painting ground of each in comparison with the fresco. Nikos Vakalis is an internationally recognized expert in the restoration of Italian murals from the 15th to the 17th century. | |
