The Historic Preservation Institute works with clients to
study the reuse possibilities of historic buildings. Along with data
collection documenting existing conditions, the Institute assists clients
at the very early stages of planning to generate programmatic spaces that
are appropriate in size, character and budget for a sensitive reuse of the
existing building. Historic Preservation guidelines, along with
local building and zoning codes, are considered at a very early stage and
help guide the project to a realistic outcome. In many cases
programming needs will require additional spaces or significant site
modifications in order to make reuse feasible.
