Classified Staff
Classified civil service positions can be categorized as permanent, project, and limited term employment (LTE).
Permanent Positions
Classified permanent positions offer employees insurance, leave and retirement benefits. Most positions require a civil service exam that is specific to the position type. Job announcements and how to apply information can be found on the WISCJOBS website.
Project Positions
Project positions do not require a civil service test but also do not carry permanent status. Project positions may last up to 4 years and offer benefits.
Limited Term Employment (LTE)
LTEs are temporary positions that do not lead to permanent status. LTEs are limited to 1040 hours of work during a year. LTEs are typically recruited by individual departments and colleges.
