University Staff

University Staff positions are categorized as temporary, project, or as having an expectation of continued employment.

Temporary Employment
Temporary Employment positions are nonexempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and do not have, or lead to an expectation of continued employment. Temporary Appointments are limited to 1044 hours of work in a 12-month period.   Temporary Appointments are typically recruited by individual departments and colleges.

Project Positions
Project employees fill a temporary work load increase, or a planned undertaking which is not an ongoing function of the department.  There is no expectation of continued employment and a project appointment may not exceed four years’ duration.

Positions with an Expectation of Continued Employment
University Staff positions with an expectation of continued employment offer employees insurance, leave and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Job announcements and how to apply information can be found on the UWM Jobs site, .
