The Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998 made it illegal to republish copyrighted information by downloading, uploading or sharing media such as music, movies or software.
Sharing or downloading copyrighted materials using UWM networks or computers is not only illegal, but also violates Guideline 11 of the UWM Acceptable Use Policy, which states:
Persons may not use University IT resources in a manner that violates federal, state, UW System or University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee regulations or laws.
