Access 2010 - Basic: Part 1

Access is Microsoft's database tool. In this 3 part course (see Access 2010 - Basic Part 2 and Part 3 for date, time and cost information for the second and third part), you will learn the basics of using the different sections of Access to create a database. You will learn how to:
  • Plan a database
  • Perform data entry, sorting and filtering on tables
  • Create tables in design view
  • Use queries to answer questions
  • Create user-friendly forms
  • Use the wizard to create grouped reports

  • Examine the properties of tables
  • Create complex queries that involve multiple tables and calculations

Hyperion Basic

Hyperion is an Oracle query management tool that is used at UWM to access and manage the numerous queries in the Query Library and to access data in the data warehouse. This one-day hands-on course teaches users how to access and work with the Hyperion Web Client. Participants will learn the basics of creating queries and reports.

Below is a list of topics covered in this class:
  • Access Hyperion documents from the Query Library and learn valuable features
  • Use Hyperion Web Client to create and modify queries
  • Develop simple tabular, pivot, chart and band-style reports
  • Learn how to print, export, and save documents

As the focus of this class is on the Hyperion Web Client tool, this class will not use UWM data from the data warehouse. Attendees will gain experience using Hyperion through practice using non-UWM sample data.

This class requires a minimum of 12 particpants to run. If there are not 12 participants registered three weeks before the class date, registered participants will be contacted and informed of next steps.

Not sure where to start looking for the student data you need? Overwhelmed by the amount of data that is available? This class will explore various resources so you know where to look when you need to find student data. This class will not cover any data outside of the student data.
