U R NOT A ★ examines the ability of photography to elicit a performance in the posture of the sitter. Stories and identities unfold before the camera, while the portrait becomes a vehicle for the subject's own performed persona. These portraits capture young misfits searching for an unattainable coolness in a Midwestern town.
