UWM Art History Gallery
The Art History Gallery houses the UWM Art Collection and is located in Mitchell Hall Room 154 on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. The Art History Gallery serves both the UWM campus community and the greater Milwaukee community by providing access to the UWM Art Collection through its exhibition programs. The Gallery's objective complements the University's educational and outreach mission. As envisioned, both the Gallery and the Collection serve as pedagogical vehicles for enhancing art education at all levels, fostering inter-departmental and inter-disciplinary relationships, and creating community partnerships.
The UWM Art Collection provides an exceptional opportunity for students to acquire first hand knowledge of museum practice. The Art History Department is committed to the training of graduate students in the theoretical and practical issues that encompass the field of art museum studies. The Graduate Certificate in Art Museum Studies provides an ideal complement to the terminal Masters degree in Art History offered by the department. The Collection offers excellent opportunities for instruction and research, as well as exhibitions organized through graduate seminars and thesis exhibitions planned and curated by M.A. candidates.
Principal funding for the gallery is generously provided by the Friends of Art History and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For more information on the gallery please contact the department directly at (414) 229-4330, or revisit our website for updates.
