Department of Communication

The Department of Communication is moving to the Northwest Quad, Building B, 4th Floor, 2025 E. Newport Ave. NWQ-B offices are accessible from Hartford Ave. The move should be completed by mid-August.

Communication is the study of human symbolic behavior. Communication courses are designed to help students learn both to communicate more effectively and to analyze human communication behavior in instructional, interpersonal, inter-cultural, group, organization, and rhetorical and public settings. The Department of Communication offers a full range of degree programs encompassing the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Department faculty has a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Students earning communication degrees are sought after for entering or extending careers in business, government, and education.

The department's curriculum consists of courses in five broad areas:

Organizational/Professional Communication
Intercultural/Global Communication
Interpersonal Communication/Conflict Management
Rhetorical/Public Communication
Health Communication
